Department of Energy Saving Technologies and Energy Management

The Department of Energy Saving Technologies and Energy Management was founded by the decision of the Academic Council of PDATU №. 1 dated August 29, 2019 on the basis of the Department of Energy and Energy Systems in the Agro-Industrial Complex. The head of the department is Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Tkach Oleh Vasylovych.

The staff of the faculty of the department is 5 people, including 3 associate professors, 2 assistants.

The department main goal is training of highly qualified competitive specialists in the energy saving field.

The main tasks of the department are the training of specialists in the educational degrees of «bachelor» and «master» in the specialty 141 «Electric power, electrical engineering and electromechanics» and OPP 141.05 «Energy management».

Educational and methodical activity

The teachers of the department have developed and implemented in the educational process the program of disciplines and educational, methodological complexes in them. Distance learning and quality control of students' knowledge with the help of the Moodle computer system are being actively introduced into the educational process.

To date, the teachers of the department read the following main disciplines of professional and practical training:

  • • Electronics and microcircuit engineering
  • • Energy audit
  • • Energy saving in the agro-industrial complex
  • • Energy Saving Technologies
  • • Engineering activities in the maintenance of electric power systems
  • • Engineering activities in the maintenance of electrification and automation systems
  • • Instrumentation with the basics of metrology
  • • Scientific research methodology
  • • Mechanization, electrification and automation of agricultural. production
  • • Alternative and renewable energy sources
  • • Fundamentals of the electric drive
  • • Fundamentals of CAD systems
  • • Energy accounting and control systems
  • • Theoretical bases of electrical engineering.

Equipment of the educational and laboratory base

The department has educational and practical laboratories:

  • • instrumentation laboratory
  • • laboratory of electronics and microcircuitry
  • • laboratory for installation of electrical equipment systems
  • • energy management laboratory
  • • laboratory of energy saving technologies
  • • laboratory of non-traditional and renewable energy sources

The available number of laboratory stands allows conducting laboratory classes with a practical method. Laboratory benches have original experimental cells equipped with the necessary measuring sensors and instruments, namely thermocouples, resistance thermometers, heat meters, digital voltmeters, ammeters, rotameters, vacuum meters, etc. Each laboratory work is supplied with guidelines approved at the meeting of the department and published in the prescribed manner.

The department has a class for computational problems, virtual laboratory work and diploma design calculations.

Scientific activity

Energy-saving technologies, energy-efficient production, and the widespread use of renewable energy sources are the most effective tools for overcoming energy dependence and global energy and economic crises.

The scientific activity of the department is focused on improving the efficiency of using the fuel and energy potential of the country in various areas of consumption. Activities:

  • conducting systematic comprehensive research in the field of energy saving, environmental protection;
  • development of projects on energy efficiency in the use of fuel and energy resources (FER) in various sectors of the national (agricultural) economy and areas of consumption;
  • development of accounting, management and control systems for energy consumption.

Educational work

The teaching staff of the department constantly cooperates with applicants for higher education in the scientific, cultural and spiritual aspect. Educational events (conversations, curatorial hours, thematic lectures), organization and holding of traditional holidays, the foundation of one's own traditions are far from a complete arsenal of means, which is an integral part of the educational process of the Department of Energy Saving Technologies and Energy Management.

Cooperation

The teachers of the department cooperate with scientists from the Krakіw Agrarian University (Poland). The staff of the department actively cooperates with scientific and pedagogical workers of agricultural universities of Ukraine: National University of Bioresources and Nature Management, Lviv National Agrarian University, Vinnytsia National Agrarian University and research institutions of the National Academy of Sciences: Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet, Institute of Mechanization and Rural Beet. Applicants for higher education and teachers take part in joint projects in the development of new energy-saving technologies and energy saving in the agro-industrial complex. Projects are accompanied by internships for students and teachers in partner organizations in Ukraine and abroad.
